Mixtape Review: Ballout Rookie of The Year

Disappointment, the one word to describe this mixtape. A very anticipated release that is not what I was expecting and I think others would agree. Ballout who is a GBE artist has been hyping up this release for months. Tweeting and instagraming pictures of the album cover talking about being the best mixtape of the year and in my opinion it is one of the worst. The mixtape has 12 songs with only 2 features. The 2 artist featuring are fellow GBE artist, Tadoe who is a roomate with Ballout but doesn’t release very much music himself features in the song “Ballout love me.” The other feature is from co-founder of GBE Chief Keef who is on top of the rap world and Ballout is lucky to have him on the mixtape. Ballout is a rapper who has had many good songs but doesn’t reach his full potential. He shows it on this mixtape by having similar beats in most of the songs when he should be working with different producers to get different sounds and really show off his talent. The best song off the mixtape is “One take” which was released about a month ago as a single to hype the mixtape. It did exactly that being one of Ballouts better songs it looked as though this was going to be a great tape with songs that would change peoples opinions of him. However once the mixtape was released it did change my opinion, in a negative way. This is the type of mixtape that you don’t even download on your phone, not good at all. Another thing is it was released about 2 weeks late. If your going to release a mixtape 2 weeks late I would expect it to be longer than 12 songs or at least have 12 good songs unlike this which has maybe 3 good songs and 5 really bad ones. Overall it was disappointment but hopefully he will have a better release in the near future.
